?To be honest I wasn?t expecting much from this new project. With so many other releases out now?with very varying degrees of response from ?utter crap? to ?not too bad??my mindset wasn?t into reviewing another blot on the musical landscape. What the hell. Perseverance is my middle name. Actually its not. (?)
First impressions count when hearing a recording and these are mighty fine impressions. There?s always room in the market for great and honest martial / neo classical music and ?Homo Homini Lvpvs? has eight exemplary tracks?with added dark Industrial atmospheres thrown in?of this finest / purest of genres. There?s nothing like a good bombastic score to appease the beast within. Add choirs, tons of startling rhythms, solemn miserable moments, pounding heart stopping orchestrations, beautiful melodic pieces and absolutely heavy emotive passages then tie it all together in clouds of foreboding and you have a?quite frankly my dear?a sure fire hit on your hands. For everyone to whom music should thrill and stir the soul this has been made just for you.
Fans of Raison D?etre, Sophia, Karjalan Sissit, Sephiroth and their ilk should open up their arms and welcome Phragments into their lives. The music of ?Homo Homini Lvpvs? is on equal par with anything put out by the fore mentioned acts. Yup?they really are that good. Snap this up whilst you?ve got a chance.? (Auralpressure)

?The barbed wire on the cover betrays that this won?t be a peaceful release. And indeed, this cd-r by Phragments has a clear apocalyptic and martial atmosphere. It?s the first full-length album of this one-man project from Slovakia after some shorter attempts.
The eight tracks in general have a (synthetic) orchestral neoclassical approach, with pounding percussion and atmospheric synth layers underneath. The music is mostly instrumental, with a few speech samples and choirs added, notably on the ritual ?Community-identity-stability?.
The sound on Homo Homini Lvpvs is quite bombastic and will appeal to lovers of the more orchestral Swedish acts. A track like ?Pangean hymn? is very heavy and militaristic. Other tracks sound more like oppressive industrial soundscapes, for example ?The cogwheel turns?.
The musical style of Phragments is not entirely original, but I think the music is well executed. Some tracks are a bit monotonous, but overall this is a very enjoyable release which is limited to only 150 copies in special packaging.? (Funprox)

?Die Musik von PHRAGMENTS erzählt die Geschichte einer Tabula Rasa (?). Die Verarbeitung von klassischer Orchester Musik trägt zur tragenden epischen Grundstimmung bei, die elektronische Grundlage versetzt der Musik den Anstrich von monotoner Aussichtlosigkeit. Der Slowake besitzt die Kunst, mit dem Gefühl des beklemmenden Ausgeliefertseins an kosmische Urgewalten, höhere Gesetze und Kollektive den Hörer erdrosseln zu lassen. Das Zahnrad im Getriebe der Machina Mundi, ?The Cogwheel turns?, dreht sich, und so muß alles, was entsteht, auch vergehen: Martialisch und monoton wird die thematische Wende musikalisch vollzogen. Der Titel des letzten Stückes ?The golden Age? versucht sich in einem inhaltlichen Abschluß, doch ist das homogen zyklische Gesamtkonzept des Albums so angelegt, daß ich die Scheibe gleich noch mal hören muß.

Es sei noch mal auf CONSTRUKT.DESTROY.COLLEKTIVE. verwiesen: Das junge ?Ostblock Industrial Label? wird sicherlich nicht nur durch sein LAIBACHesques Design noch auf sich aufmerksam machen. Denn hier scheint der ursprüngliche Industrial Gedanke wie ein ?Fragment? aus einer Präplastikära noch am leben zu sein. Liebhabern von KARJALAN SISSIT, RAISON D? ÊTRE, SATOR ABSENTIA, THE PROTAGONIST oder TMLHBAC wird PHRAGMENTS sicherlich willkommen sein. Und die im kommenden Mai geplante Deutschlandtournee wird sicher ihr übriges tun.? (Terrorverlag)

Aufgrund der einseitigen Aufkündigung der vereinbarten Mietkonditionen durch den Geschäftsführer der Tanzgalerie Bonn-Bad Godesberg findet das für den 25.05. geplante Konzert der slowakischen Formation Phragments nicht statt. Leider war es uns in der kurzen Zeitspanne nicht möglich, für eine adäquate Ersatzlokalität zu sorgen. Wir bedauern diesen Ausfall sehr und hoffen, daß diese Nachricht noch eventuell Interessierte erreichen wird. Definitiv stattfinden werden indes die Konzerte in Hamburg und Fürth, auf die wir gerne an dieser Stelle nochmals hinweisen wollen:
