ich war dort. für ein review hab ich leider derzeit zu wenig zeit,
habe allerdings ein recht ausführliches eines konzertbesuchers
gefunden:

WOW!
It was amazing. When I first walked up to the "venue", a mental asylum dating to
the late 1600's, I knew that this was going to be an extra special event! The
whole building looked as if it were in major decay, which only added to the
atmosphere of the strange events that would soon take place. All were greeted at
the door by Walter from Klanggalerie and handed a ticket with their name on it,
and 1 of the very limited Nurse With Wound CDRs entitled 'The Little Dipper
Minus Two (Echo Poeme Sequence 1)' that is beautifully illustrated by Steven
Stapleton and contains and equally beautiful piece by Stapleton and Colin
Potter.

After the warm welcome, I meandered on into the center of the asylum, which has
now been transformed into an incredible anatomical museum full of insane
exhibits of medical oddities, to find myself in a courtyard where the patients
who were calm enough, and could, used to wander about in their various states of
disarray. Now it was a mingling place for the equally insane and mentally
challenged, the fans of Nurse With Wound!

The next door led to a small reception area where a bar was set up and the
wonderful merch tables were all lined up. The 2 new Chrystal Belle Scrodd
releases of course were there along with the beautiful limited t-shirts designed
for the events with a piece by Stapleton on the front and the words 'Salt Marie
Celeste...D'Musical' on the back. Around the tables were found to be the likes
of Matt and Greg from Irr.App.(Ext.), Colin Potter, Andrew Liles and of Course,
Mr. Stapleton.

As I wandered up the fights of stairs to the top floor where the converted
mental patients room was where the concerts were to be held, I was surrounded by
crazy drawings of cyclops baby's, deformed testicles, oddly shaped skeletons,
displays of fetuses and all sorts of other warped images of a hellish, yet
intriguing reality.

The first show gets going as Colin Potter climbs to the stage, turns to the
crowd and says "Welcome to the madhouse!" His set was a masterful mix of many
different NWW favs, including bits from 'She and Me...', 'Shipwrecked Vol 1',
and the incredible drum beats from the 'Rock'n'Roll Station'/'Who Can I Turn To'
recordings all mixed into a dreamlike cacophony of surreal audioscapes. The set
was accompanied by an incredible video show of psychedelic imagery which
included spectacular spinning purple lightning and many other visual
wonders...it went along so perfect!

After Colins set, the stage was turned over to Andrew Liles, who performed a
wonderful electronic piece set to a video of some disturbed male mental patients
from Romania playing with soccer balls and spoons, which later melted into a
strange film on big game wildlife taxidermy...very strange indeed!

A short break was then on the menu and everyone moved back downstairs to marvel
amongst themselves at the sounds and sights they had just witnessed as they
gobbled up more Cd's and downed more beer and wine! All chomping at the bit for
what was to come next...

Steven was joined on stage by Colin and the absolutely wonderful Diana Rogerson,
while Andrew and Matt Waldron took their places in front of the stage. All were
dressed in doctors coats...and the audio surgery salad began! A bright video of
slowly lapping waters was projected onto everything and the voice of a woman
could be heard speaking softly...strangely. Then the sweet drones began to pour
forth like salt from the shaker when it falls on its side. Diana played the
squeeze box and none of us dared to go to sleep that night! Slowly but surely,
the humming and creaking would build, all the while with the mysterious inputs
of Liles and Waldron ever creeping in like ants at a picnic. Liles electronic
sweetness melted into the drones of Potter and the samples of Stapleton with a
subtle but powerful effect. Waldron wowed the crowd with wonderful displays of
dada-esque sound constructs made with an arsenal of toys including kitchen
utensils, balloons, rubber bands, and a very nice toy
wand with a tripendicular light show encompassed in its clear globe. Still the
dronescape was building! Diana was equipped with a microphone and began to
whisper some of her poetry, all the while, her hand was churning in a metal
mixing bowl that was filled with water and pebbles, which was also amplified by
a mic. Little bits and pieces of 'Angry Eelectric Finger' could be heard popping
up here and there, only to disappear back into the surreal soup that was now
almost boiling! A dive bombing airplane! Screams and moans! Squeaks, creaks,
scrapes and rattles! All picking away at our fragile little minds...but then,
slowly, just as it had begun, the drones and creaks and squeaks and scrapes
started to fade...little by little, until only the strange and distant female
voice could be heard once again...but then it too faded. And the crowd went
wild!

After the show, more mingling of course! A chance to try and catch your breath,
speak with the artists, and to be glad you were alive and in Vienna!

The next days matinee event were set up the same way. Potters and Liles sets
were based on the same constructs but they were somewhat different as well due
to the improvs that were being done throughout.

The NWW set was a little more different than the other two. They wore no coats
for this one. Andrew and Matt were a bit more subdued for the performance and
Diana came to the forefront with yells and odd vocal twistings that would have
made Diamanda Galas proud! There was a little difficulty with some
feedback...but I think it just added that much more to the madness that was
slowly oozing out like sweet sweet jelly!

Once the 2nd shows were over, there was only a few hours before the dream began
again. I went and had a beer and some chow and wondered at the marvelous
progression I was witnessing...how would the last one turn out...how would the
puzzle be completed?

With a bang! Colin and Andrew lead off as before, but this time with a
confidence that was in full blossom! Andrew was very very happy with his final
set and was all smiles as he prepared himself for the final big event, Colins
was just as impressive as all the rest of his had been...but the kicker was the
final NWW set...absolutely amazing! the fist set the first night had run about
45 min, the 2nd set earlier that day had been about 50 min, but the final one
lasted at least an hour if not a little more...and it was if they had taken all
the best aspects of the 1st and 2nd shows...and smashed them into one grand ball
of magic! It was truly their finest moment! And the audience, responded as such
as well!

All in all it was one of the most magical moments I have ever gotten to be apart
of. I hope this marks the beginning of many more such events! Walter did an
excellent job of putting this whole thing on and deserves much thanks and
respect for it! Thanks Walter! And thanks To Steve, Diana, Colin, Andrew and
Matt for coming out and putting on a weekend that will never ever be forgotten! (Stan Reed)
