CD's arrived yesterday to me and I know that Hiroshi is now at Europe. So, it will not be possible to send their copies, until that Hiroshi comes back to Japan.

Reviews: ASTRO / Hiroshi Hasegawa - Fracture Composition CD

Beitragvon rapeartprods » 15.10.2009 (2:12)

Hello there!

I found on internet 2 nice reviews about ASTRO / Hiroshi Hasegawa - Fracture Composition CD.

Fracture Composition, by Astro (CD on Rape Art)
I was totally blown away today when I first Heard Astro’s ‘Fracture Composition’. Astro is Hiroshi Hasegawa who was a member of 90’s racket warriors C.C.C.C. Astro is a fitting name for this project that he’s been doing for the last 10 years. This man takes Japanoise/ power electronics to extreme levels that although are brutal and pulverizing manage to retain a cosmic/ futuristic sound. The title track (recorded live in Istanbul) for example has layer upon layer of synthesizer battling out, conjuring up an image of flying a spacecraft at hyper speed blowing up all sorts of space junk with some killer blue and green lasers. This stuff is hyper intense, like a huge eruption of mass organized chaos. How this man can still hear is a mystery to me. It’s like drinking ten pints of pure adrenalin. I mean this is just totally immense and if you’ll think you’ve been sucked into some kind of vortex by the end of the three long tracks. This truly is music that sounds like it comes from an alternate universe and has been sent to this world via some black/wormhole. I’d say that fans of Merzbow, KK Null and even the noisier end of Hecker’s frequency frenzies should check this out. A totally INSANE! Headfuck in the best possible way. Released on the Rape Art label which is based in Ecuador and the artwork is by Lasse Marhaug. For fans of extreme future music this is essential listening. It’s like some lost soundtrack to an epic science fiction space battle. The audience at the three shows the tracks are culled from must have had their minds melted. I’m lost for words and can feel a renewed Jap noise obsession coming on... Oh and I have read that this guy is married to a pornstar. When I consider that plus the fact the he has some wicked analogue synthesizers that he is highly proficient with... I am nothing. [Norman Records - United Kingdom]

Astro, "Fracture Composition", cd, Rape Art Productions 2009
Three live spirals recorded in various parts of the world. The title track, recorded in Istanbul in Turkey, is a tad disappointing to this Astro fan. Harsh and loud but somewhat unimaginative and pedestrian, favouring less of the features this project is known for but not really reaching out for anything new, rather just letting the synths and other instruments grind and grunt with some modulation. Second piece "Live At UFO Factory", in Tokyo, however, redeems Astro's power with large and loud spraying, cosmic hiss and chasmic roars, feedback-sounding synth leads and delayed effects. It sounds like it would have been extremely impressive to have experienced at the time. The final spiral "Japanese Royal Blue Part 3" is in a similar vein but with less white noise and more of the detail of the sounds allowed through the distortion. Still with the higher synth sounds and echo effects that make Astro what it is. A connection, then, between the cosmic synth style and Harsh Noise style that Hasegawa has established his name within, not always successfully on this album though but still with some redemption. [Andrew McIntosh - Australia]

REVIEW FROM HEATHEN HARVEST BY VARGR WULF

Artist: Astro (Japan)

Title: Fracture Composition

Label: Rape Art Productions (Ecuador)

Genre: Harsh Electronic Noise

Track Listing:

01 Fracture Composition
02 Live At UFO Factory
03 Japanese Royal Blue Part Three

Wow, jaw-droppingly awesome release from the Japanese synthesizer noise master, Hiroshi Hasegawa. Having spent the earlier part of his life blowing minds with the full-contact noise ensemble C.C.C.C., the project Astro seems to be more focused on pure synthesizer explorations rather than the multi-layered, Macronympha-like junk noise of C.C.C.C. As the title implies, this project generally has a cosmic theme to it, but do not be fooled by the presence of synthesizers and space themes. This is brain-melting electronics presented by a noise master for the purposes of purest exploration of sonic destruction. Cheers to the ill-named Rape Art Productions for bringing us this amazing gem, with tripped out packaging featuring some artwork from fellow noisemaster Lasse Marhaug.

"Fracture Composition" was recorded live in Istanbul, Turkey, and is a pretty off-the-wall electronics assault. Very clear and precise sounds burrow into the brain like needles as softer tones gives the effect of the brain dripping out of your head. High-pitched frequencies entertain violence upon the fragile listeners cranium and human putty is made out of what was formerly a thinking and feeling being. Ultimate presence of mind is participated in by the composer of these violent frequences, and Hasegawa's intention is never anything other than total exploration of decimation. The track ends with sonic tentacles of a cthuloid being begging for an ear from a kind human. Stinking powers from forgotten eons glisten in an erotic breeze of chthonic frenzy. Calumnoid shizophrenic fantasies of things that simply should not exist are entertained and made flesh before the viewers very own two eyes. Two beings cross over one another to form into a single and solid entity that controls both through the middle of each. Harsh and cathartic! Everything comes together in the end, with and ending that sounds like a spacecraft battle in a cosmic wind tunnel. "Live At The UFO Factory" is recorded in the USA and aptly has a very beautiful drone sci-fi Harsh Noise Wall sound to it. Very naturalistic static sounds that have an epic beauty are pierced by more melodic and atmospheric synthesizer buzzes and noises. Harsh and solid throughout, a seriously epic and transcendent piece of music.

Finally, "Japanese Royal Blue Part Three" is the shortest of the bunch, but oddly feels like the one where Hasegawa relaxes a bit more. Not quite as full-on and destructive as the pieces on the first two tracks, but still harsh and completely tripped out. This is a fantastic release from Hasegawa, who is an undisputed master of noise electronics. Great release, a masterpiece in electronic composition and destruction.
