FREIBAND is one of the many projects by FRANS DE WAARD, he has been since many years active. Founding member of KAPOTTE MUZIEK, BEEQUEEN, GOEM aswell as solo projects like SHIFTS, FREIBAND or QUEST (only to name a few). Projects that are classics in the wide world of contemporary experimental music. Three compositions , all made with the sound of saxophones. FREIBAND use the material played by Bo van de Graaf to create some nice hypnotic minimal sound drones.
"In May 2005 I played a short impovisation concert with Bo van de Graaf, a local saxophone player and Gert-Jan Eldering, a piano player. Before the concert I made recordings at their homes of them playing their instruments. In the next years I had these sound files on my computer and went back for them playing with other people. In November 2005 I spent a week in Vlissingen on a composition assignment (which became 'Vijf Profielen'), and in the evening at the guesthouse I struggled to the piece right. One night I was tired an decided to set my mind to different things and created an entirely new piece of Bo's saxophone playing. That piece, recorded and mixed on the same night, stayed on my computer for some time, unsure what I should do with it. In February 2007 I was in Japan for some concerts, but during the day and some nights I was free and decided to use the quietness of being there to work on some more music. Besides finishing a new CD 'Replicas' (for Monochrome Vision, janaury 2008) I recorded two more, different pieces using the same material. The minimalist character of all three pieces may reflect the peaceful conditions they were created in and, almost natural in a way, are dedicated to Phill Niblock."

N.STRAHL.N - Wahrnehmungshygiene

After the debut "Eingang" and "Brot und Lügen" (that shows the noisy side), "Wahrnehmungshygiene" is the third TOSOM release by N.STRAH.N, a fantastic and very busy project from Germany. In the past N.Strahl.N released also some works on different labels (like Apocalyptic Radio or Krakilsk) and some very limited self-releases. All the stuff by N.Strahl.N is very worth to check.
"Wahrnehmungshygiene" was recorded between February and May 2006, mostly using field recordings. And this time the project also used, for some compositions, acoustic instruments (like flute and melodica). The music is more than normal and usual soundscapes, this are sounds for a head cinema.
