We are ENDICHE VIS.SAT, an Experimental Music Band from Eastern Europe, known for its highly inventive and multi-stylistic musical ventures, stunning stage productions and as an organizer of countless Actions, both spontaneous and planned. The band boasts six internationally released albums, and gives frequent concerts in various countries. Five core members make up the nucleus of the band. 1989 and the revolution in Eastern Europe is the starting point of much that is Avant-Garde in Lithuania today. The band was born a twin sister to the internationally famous "Singing Revolution," organized in 1990, which was to put more wood on the decisive fire which then led to the collapse of the former Soviet Union. Within this dramatical Aura of historical significance, Mr. Ramunas Yaras appears in the local musical scene as a leader in all revolutionary musical development in Lithuania. During ENDICHE VIS.SAT concerts, a very vast array of musical instruments and sound sources are heard: not most anything one can imagine, but rather what one did not expect. These sound sources from all of humanity's musical history are accompanied by a fantastic display of costume design, bringing in theatrical elements as well. At one time, a listener may encounter a musical ensemble of ten people, all wearing a different type of costume, playing everything from violins to jackhammers and back to banjos. In fact, all ENDICHE performances are unpredictable and most definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. ENDICHE VIS.SAT seeks not merely to satisfy the outer realms of the audience's thirst for virtuosity, but is missionary in the sense that it turns its performances and recordings into a medium which addresses the listener's attention towards the Spiritual. Each of our members works tirelessly to fulfill this task, dedicating all of his/her creative energy to serve this one clear and genuine goal.
THE BIRDS was formed in 2002 by Cotton Casino (of Japan) and Per Gisle Galaaen (of Norway). In July this year they did a 10 days tour in Japan, where they collaborated with Keiji Haino and Makoto Kawabata among others. Their music is mainly improvised were they perform on theremin, syntheseizer, guitar, vocals, bag-pipe, flute, electronics, tapes etc. The music range from calm atmospheric 'songs' and sound-scapes, to intense drones. In November 2003, US label Important Records will release THE BIRDS' debut CD. Besides THE BIRDS, Cotton Casino is in the Japanese psychedelic rock-band ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE and the new creation Acid Mothers Gong, which features Daevid Allen (GONG), two associates from AMT and Yoshida Tatsuya of Ruins. She also has collaborations with other musicians in the US and UK, and also plays in Pardons with Higashi Hiroshi. Per Gisle Galaaen (aka Crazy River) also plays in the free-noise trio DEL (with Lasse Marhaug (Jazzkammer) and Killer(ex-Motorpsycho)), and he also has collaborations with ultrasound (Den Haag / Texas). DEL has released several albums, 7"-singles and tapes, on labels in Japan, USA, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Norway and Sweden. Galaaen has also released a solo-cd + 7", and has several releases with psych-group Slowburn. Later this year he will release a 7" collaboration with Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple) and Tabata (of Zeni Geva, Marble Sheep etc.).
Demarnia Lloyd - Having prepared the soundtrack to "Shape of the Land" and toured it around New Zealand in 2002, the group has captured the essential musical moments of the show on tape (make that disk). First mixes sound very promising and point towards a follow-up to "Down at the End of the Garden", to be released in late 2003 / early 2004. Cloudboy's debut album continues to do well in New Zealand (no wonder - check out these reviews); a 6th pressing is imminent. Global Routes, who distribute the album, are currently working on securing distribution deals in Europe, and Dunedin-based Arclife continue to cover their own network as well as quite a few internet stores. For those who are (still!) waiting for a repress of the 1995 "cloudboy" E.P. - please be patient. It'll have to keep just a little longer. In the meantime, check out Demarnia Lloyd's "Set Upon a Curve", her second solo CD (out on Global Routes); recorded while she was artist-in-residence at Smith's Grainstore in Oamaru in 2002, this is a real gem. John White's solo outing "Balloon Adventure" is a gem of similar ilk; contact John for details. Johannes Contag in the meantime has finished his second "Sleepytime" album - "Schlafwandler", available from Monkey Records.
