Thinking about how to write about this night, i thought i'd better go over my superlatives... how much is better then best?
What an evening again! With an upbeat of yet again a lift by Bauke and Tiny, to make going to Breda even more festive, we arrived at the Electron in the dark of the early evening. What better as your in for 'A Night Full Of Noise III'.
And a night full of the best in noise music it turned out to be. With three acts from Germany and one from Italy it was again a very special gathering.
Starting of the night was Antracot. Antracot did a great set. He drew on a large array of custom boxes and mic'ed objects. The sounds were varied in tempo from lengthy feedbacks to wild noise excursions. Brilliant opener!
Up next was Indigo Larvae. Second appearance of Reinhard Hopfe to the Rebellenclub; first time under his monicker Stahlwerk 9. I'd heard the first Indigo Larvae cd 'Abandoned to Dispare' which is excellent!
The setup was again a lot of boxes, although somewhat more traditional in makeup. The set was very dark; almost subdued noise. With added song and mic'ed gadgets. And although it captured the spirit, the mixing was quite poor. Many of the great subtleties found on the cds were lost somehow. While writing this i'm listening to the second cd 'Behind These Walls The Night Is Total' which i bought yesterday; which is again a fantastic collection of petrified 'Angst Muzik'. Highly recommended!
In between acts i already had the great pleasure of meeting Peppe; Vestigial. Vestigial is a new act which caught me directly when i first heard tracks of his initial release 'Aeon' here on MySpace. Now there's just been release the immaculate cd 'Translucent Communion' on the illustrious Cold Meat Industries label.
Vestigial had a slick setup with a shiny Apple laptop and an E-MU controller. And from that... one giant eruption of the best soundscapes, noise. He worked the controls with a poetic passion of a true Italian, stunning and stinging the public and nailing them in awe. There were some backdrop videos, but the set was dominated by the bright white glare of a strobelight, which gave a very pure and light ambience. I found myself drifting of, with my eyes closed. The sound fragments were familiar from his releases, but now, live, they were mashed up wildly and it sounded even better then the releases. Magnificent.. simply magnificent.
Afterward we talked at lenght. About him doing all his own graphic designs. He, he.. Had to buy his latest T-Shirt to the 'Translucent Communion' release. It's beautiful. And about he talked with passion about his ideas for a next release; which no doubt will be another great work of art.

And if that was not enough... up next Atrox! Wow! Orrr... BOOM! Atrox was one giant explosion of sound and light. Best noise drones, very, very varied and original, with lots of dynamics and changes! Atrox had drawn everybody to the room; surely the best visitor count for the Rebellenclub to date... But it was the lightshow that made this act all the more special: Smoke machine and then wild and powerful multicoloured laser beams, strobe light, and a variety of other impressive ever changing beam lights. It was an all sensory experience that went to every part of your brain. Fantastic! Ahww.. maybe they over did the smoke a bit; it went a bit stuffy towards the end.

So again, George of the Rebellenclub... thank you. What an evening! And many more in the making; most notably there will be a free night of noise. Kind of an open stage to new noise acts. I'm really looking forward to that!

Danke natürlich auch an die Leute die eine weite Anreise auf sich genommen haben um uns spielen zu sehen! Ist ja heute nicht mehr selbstverständlich.

Kann mich nur meinem Vorredner(n) anschließen: schöner gelungener Abend mit viel Spaß und netten Leuten. Dank an allen, die da waren und zum Teil weite Anreisen auf sich genommen haben und den Abend so ermöglicht haben und natürlich auch dem Veranstalter, der sich sehr um uns alle bemüht hat. Alles in allem ein Erlebnis, das sich gelohnt hat.
So, und ich hau mich jetzt unter die Dusche!!!

antracot gab ein schönes openerbrett um die ohren schon
mal einzustimmen. kurz und schmerzhaft
indigo larvae hatte ich zuvor noch nicht gehört. um so grösser
war dann die überraschung. so richtig ruhig war's dann aber auch
nicht, hat sehr gefallen.
(musste ich mir dann gleich mal die cds sichern)
vestigial, der einzigste ohne analog-equipment, hatte ja auch die
längste anreise, denke ich mal. einige neue sachen dabei und
bekannte sachen den abend angepasst. war wohl auch der bisher
nördlichste auftritt (iirc). sehr shön!
atrox, da hat doch jemand alles unter nebel gesetzt und nicht
nur den konzertraum
sehr eindrucksvoller auftritt. das publikum ging auch richtig mit
und wollte ihn (diesmal ohne live-member antracot) auch gar nicht
mehr so richtig von der bühne lassen. sehr schöner auftritt.
fazit: die etwas längere anreise hat sich für mich mehr als gelohnt.

veranstaltungsort war klasse; kleine aber gute pa. veranstalter und crew waren ausgesprochen zuvorkommend; das war wirklich prima. nochmals danke und ein lob nach breda!
insg. ca. 50 personen anwesend - auch das publikum war hochmotiviert.
zu den drei bands:
antracot:
ca. 30-minütiges noisebrett in leicht japanisch-angehauchter manier; schön druckvoll und sauber runtergebrezelt. ein tisch voller lustiger gerätschaften perfekt bedient; ein klasse dingens.
dazu noch ein paar distorted vocals:
indigo larvae:
deutlich rassiger als das material, was ich bisher von r.h. habe; also nicht ganz so ruhig, wie ich erwartet habe. dadurch um so mehr mein geschmack! sehr schöner sound!
vestigial:
kam mit dem flieger aus italia und etnsprechend kompaktem equipment: laptop + usb-keyboard. hat damit aber intensiv gearbeitet und auch eine fette, manchmal sogar noisig-angehauchte wand erschaffen.
fazit: mir haben alle drei bands sehr gut gefallen; ein in alle hinsicht lohnende aktion. auch die anfahrt war diesmal ohne stress (grins).
ach ja, noch was zu meinem auftritt:
danke nochmal an den herrn, der mir freundlicherweise ein bier auf die bühne gebracht hat. leider war der sekt ziemlich früh alle - diesmal.
